Nylon 12 GF

Glass-bead reinforced for extreme stiffness and heat resistance.

Glass reinforcement raises rigidity markedly: at 2800 MPa tensile modulus it sits well above unreinforced Nylon 12. Its real advantage shows under load, where a 113°C heat deflection temperature at 1.8 MPa far exceeds Nylon 12 at 87°C. Elongation sits at 4%, so it holds its shape rather than flexing.

APPLICATIONS04 / 04
01

Engine Bay Components

Ducts, housings and mounts under sustained heat. At 113°C under a 1.8 MPa load it stays well above Nylon 12 at 87°C.

02

Load-Bearing Brackets

Structural members that must not sag under sustained load. Its 2800 MPa tensile modulus sits well above unreinforced Nylon 12 at 1850 MPa.

03

Fixtures & Tooling Aids

Production aids under repeated clamping and locating loads, where holding shape is what matters.

04

Guides & Wear Faces

Rails, guides and stop faces. The rigid structure limits deformation at the contact area.

MATERIAL SELECTION

Choose Nylon 12 GF When

  • The part must hold its dimensions without sagging under sustained load.
  • It must resist heat while under load, which is where its advantage shows.
  • You need rigidity but not the cost of carbon reinforcement.
