MATERIALS ENGINEERING

Certified Engineering Thermoplastics

Choose the material your part actually needs — by operating temperature, impact load, and chemical exposure. Every value comes from the manufacturer technical data sheets.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What Customers Ask Before Production Starts

The questions that come up most often at the quote stage, and how the process answers them.

How quickly do I get a quote?

Once you upload your 3D model, our engineering team reviews the geometry for manufacturability and sends the formal technical specification and price to your email address within 24 hours.

Which file formats do you accept?

STEP, STP, STL, IGES, OBJ and X_T files up to 50 MB. STL and OBJ files are measured in the browser instantly; for the other formats you simply enter the bounding box yourself.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

No. There is no tooling cost, so the same process covers 1 to 5,000+ units; as the quantity grows, nesting in the build cake is optimised.

What is your build volume, and what if my part does not fit?

The Formlabs Fuse build volume is 300 × 165 × 165 mm. If your part exceeds it, send the request anyway: our engineering team determines the right approach — including splitting the part and bonding it — and confirms it with the quote.

I am not sure which material to choose. What should I do?

Continue with Nylon 12. We review your part’s operating temperature, impact load and chemical exposure, then tell you the most suitable thermoplastic along with the quote. Your selection is not binding.

What dimensional tolerance and surface quality can I expect?

Dimensional tolerance is ±0.15 mm at a layer thickness of 110 or 80 µm. Depending on the finish, roughness ranges from Ra 10–15 µm raw down to Ra 1–3 µm vapor smoothed.

Do my technical drawings stay confidential?

Yes. The CAD files and technical data you share are held under our confidentiality undertaking and are never passed to third parties. On request we sign a mutual non-disclosure agreement before quoting.

Can you produce parts in a specific colour?

Yes. Industrial dyeing by immersion drives the pigment into the polymer’s pores, so the colour does not peel, resists scratching and stays uniform across the batch. Alongside standard matte black, we produce in the colour reference you specify.
