Nylon 11

Ductile, fracture-resistant avionics and airframe structures.

A renewably sourced polyamide derived from castor oil. At 40% elongation at break and 71 J/m notched impact strength it is the most ductile of the unreinforced nylons, deforming by stretching rather than fracturing under sudden loads. Preferred for avionics housings, hinged parts and clip-together assemblies exposed to vibration and impact.

Housings that work under vibration and shock. They absorb energy by deforming rather than breaking, and resist crack propagation.

Snap Fits & Living Hinges

Latching features and thin-section hinges that flex repeatedly. 40% elongation at break gives these geometries room to work.

Protective Covers & Bumpers

Guards carrying drop and impact loads. At 71 J/m this is the highest impact strength among the unreinforced nylons.

Unmanned Aircraft Airframe Parts

Landing legs, motor arms and airframe joints. On a hard landing they deform instead of fracturing, keeping the part intact.
